Because of its close resemblance, the Sheba Guinea Pig is sometimes called the “Sheba Mini Yak” and the “bad hair day guinea.” They are easily identifiable by their shaggy hair. This breed is one of the few long-haired guinea pigs which doesn’t need constant maintenance. The Australian-born breed was created in the 1960s. It is a cross of the Peruvian Guinea Pig, which is known for its beautiful, long hair and is often used as a show guinea. The ACBA has not yet officially recognized this unique cross as it is still being vetted by breed registries.

It is an extremely popular guinea even without official registry recognition. They are playful and lovable.
